I’m a 20-something that’s been married for three years this November. My husband, Derrick, and I live in Homewood—a suburb of Birmingham. We never dreamed that we would stay in Birmingham long term, but four year’s later, we feel like this is home.
We’ve been searching for the perfect first house in our ideal neighborhood for about a year. In August, we decided that our window of opportunity was closing (as we needed to give notice to our property management company) and decided to take a hiatus from house hunting. The next day, our realtor called and said she found something that was definitely worth a look. Within a week we had put an offer in on the house and within two weeks it was accepted. We though it would be smooth sailing form there, but boy were we wrong! Nearly three months later, we are finally closing on our house— October 31, 2012.
I’m starting this blog so that I can share our adventures in making this house our home.
